Welcome!

My name is Laura McNaught-Symmes and I will be your child's sixth grade teacher. I am delighted to be back at St. Justin Martyr and look forward to an exciting year with my new class.

My teaching experience is in the area of Special Education (specifically gifted learners). I have been working with gifted children for the bulk of my career and the majority of my teaching experience is in the junior division.
I enjoy the challenge that teaching PACE provides. Gifted children are unique learners, and providing them with a program tailored to meet their needs is a rewarding process.

I am currently working on research in the area of gifted programming and differentiated instruction (multiple intelligences) and completed my specialist in special education with the hopes of pursuing my research further.

This blog will be utilized as a communication tool for parents. It will include information that pertains to curriculum and classroom activities and will be updated when necessary. More advanced users may wish to set the wiki as one of their "favourites". Moreover, by adjusting your settings, you can be notified by email when updates have been made.

Should you need to speak with me in person, the best time to reach me is after school. You may also leave a message with one of the secretaries and I will return your call as soon as I can. Email messages can be sent directly to me by clicking on the "envelope icon" at the top of the screen. I check the wiki daily and can usually reply by the end of the school day.

I look forward to working with you this year to ensure that your child has a successful and productive school experience.
